Like its best vintages, viticulture just keeps getting better with age. Connoisseurs of the vine have played witness to an evolution in the world of wine and its appreciation toward a more environmentally conscious approach to production. Winemakers who previously had been producing for profit’s sake, alone, are beholden to their consumers’ wishes for a purer expression of the vine like never before. Those who had already been producing with minimal human intervention are being celebrated as pinnacles in a forceful movement within a traditionally change-resistant industry. “Natural wine” is on the scene and it’s here to stay.
Many Santa Barbara vineyards such as Alma Rosa, Beckman, Sea Smoke, Grimm’s Bluff are moving toward organic, sustainable, and/or biodynamic farming practices.
